Always Check Your Affiliate Links!

Today I sent an email to my list and it contained an affiliate link to a report by Joel Comm called The Adsense Traffic Guide. I took the link straight from the email Joel sent and never bothered to check it.

Big mistake!

The affiliate link contained the wrong domain and my subscribers ended up on the wrong webpage…

Always check your affiliate links before you publish them in an email or webpage.

Sending people to the wrong site hurts your credibility and not only will you lose the immediate sale, but quite probably subsequent sales. People can be very unforgiving when they put their trust in you and you screw up.

On the other side of the coin, if you rely on affiliates to promote your products, make sure the affiliate link you send to them to promote your product is correct. Once your affiliates lose credibility through your error, you stand to lose affiliates and a lot of sales!

One further point, once you realize you’ve made an error, correct it immediately. The longer you leave it the more you stand to lose.

    1. Good point. Never leave anything to chance where your business is concerned. It is so easy to go through the motions when running an online business but one simple error can lose you money.

The moral of this story is to check and double check everything just like the pros.
